Tamil Arundathi Hit or Flop?

The Telugu film Arundathi with Anushka in the lead is the biggest hit so far in Telugu this year. The film made Anushka into a super celebrity in Telugu. The success of the film resulted in several producers from Tamil and elsewhere to make a beeline for acquiring the remake rights.

But producer Shyam Prasad Reddy chose to release the dubbed version of Arundathi in Tamil all by himself. The film hit the screens the other day but the response was very lukewarm.
Trade pundits are saying that the film is unlikely to repeat the success of Telugu version and may become a flop.
