Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) decided to award D. Lit (Honoris Causa) on music maestro A.R. Rahman, who created history by becoming the first Indian to win two Oscars.
The decision to confer the honorary doctorate has been taken by the AMU executive council.
The university has also decided to confer the honorary doctorate to Ratan Tata, chairman of
the Tata Group, professor M.S. Swaminathan, father of green revolution and noted Urdu writer
professor Gopichand Narang.
