Thanks to Akshay Kumar, now six aspiring sports men can look towards their future with more hope. The action star has agreed to help six wrestlers for the next five years. It was last year, that the actor, while attending the All India Wrestling Championship told that he can assist some wrestlers in going up in the sport.
On Tuesday evening after meeting with this year's six best wrestlers, Akshay immediately agreed to the proposal put forth by the organizer of the Wrestling Championship and congress spokesman Sanjay Nirupam. So for the next five years, Akshay will be funding the entire diet expenses of the six wrestlers.
Most often wrestlers hail from financially weak families. So many talented wrestlers finding it difficult to afford the cost of specialized food and other expenses leave the sports early.
In a way, Akshay's attempt to do his bit for the traditional Indian sport can also be seen as a tribute to his father Hari Om Bhatia who also was a wrestler from Punjab.
