Slumdog Millionaire: Under Question

The Oscar fever has this time gripped the movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ after it won the four Golden Globe awards and four Richard Attenborogh awards. The most criticized movie of contemporary time is surely ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ which is being in the news for one glib or the other. Albeit the fact that critics praise the film sky high, it is being plunged with comments by many Indians and Indian celebrities.

Director Priyadarshan said that Slumdog is not worth to be contenting for the Oscars and if selected, it means the people are not aware what world cinema is all about.

‘I had read the novel Q & A by Vikas Swaroop and the film fails to portray what it was intended to do. Maniratnam had plans to bring the script to celluloid but Danny Boyle bought it in but in a gruesome, nasty way that shows Mumbai badly and us people as low level slum dwellers.’

The wide spread comments which is also the same as of Amitabh Bachchan’s and Salman Rashdi’s is the makers feasted on marketing poverty life in India and made us look cheap on global standards.

On the flip side of the coin, magazine’s in the US and UK states a conspiracy is being hatched against the film from winning the Oscars by propagating news like the production company didn’t deliver proper remunerations for the child artists and so on. The members of the academy awards was delivered the voting papers and now they are in a stall as such negative gossips had bought down the caliber of the movie, says the headlines in these papers. The film has an Indian theme and is an adapted version of an Indian author’s novel which makes it a native movie rather than a Hollywood flick.

Despite pouring criticism and controversial take on ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, millions of Indians support the film to win the Oscars whole heartedly for AR Rahman is one among the nominee and it will be our time to prove our mettle internationally

Lo behold Kat is here to stay

A flawless beauty with no considerable acting skills. A perfect decorative piece to partner the B‑Town hunks and pull in the crowd. A lady who has been able to make it this far only due to her superstar boyfriend.

The descriptions go on and on and Katrina seems to have had enough of it. At least that's what is being suggested by her roles in three upcoming films. One of the films being eagerly awaited by the film lovers is 'Rajnithi'. The first reason for the hype is that the film is being canned by none other than Prakash Jha, the second reason is due to Katrina.

Prakash Jha always manages to extract the best possible performance from his lead actors.

So how did he convince himself that Katrina can shoulder this particular role?

On her part Katrina feels "My role in Rajniti is immensely challenging and it is a huge responsibility to carry off such a character. The character has different shades – I start off in a particular way and end up as a completely changed persona. I am very exited to work with Prakash Jha who is known for his kind of cinema and believes in involving himself in every department of his films".

The reason for the lady's exhilaration is directly linked to the difficulties that had to be endured to gradually change the way she has being projected in the media.

First of all in 'Rajnithi' she is trying hard to change her speaking style, since she been the target of several criticisms. In order to get the required dialect right and due to a certain way she is required to speak towards the end of the flick, Katrina will have to undergo voice modulation training.

Even in the attire of the actress, Prakash Jha has decided on a look that is radically different from the way we have seen Katrina before.

We have seen Katrina pulling off the comical sequences efficiently so far, may be because she never got a chance. Now she is all set to prove her skills in enacting comedy as her role in Raj Kumar Santoshi's film 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani' is said to have a major comic streak in it.

All in all Kat is getting many chances to break her "glam doll" image. She made her first try to be taken more seriously with 'Yuvraaj'. The film failed but not the lady's spirit. And going by the way Katrina is saying that marriage will not be happening for a couple of years, she sure seems to be preparing for a war to prove everyone of her detractors wrong.

Adnan gets another blow

In a way nothing but sympathy is the only feeling that comes when Adnan Sami's name is mentioned. After battling the allegations of abuse charged by his wife Sabah who even went to the extent of filing a police complaint, here comes another pain.

The Central Government has given a new order for a nationwide survey of Pakistani nationals living in India. This is to get a clearer picture of their intentions of living in the country, their occupation and also to know about the properties used by them.

The trouble for Adnan is that he does not have the needed permissions to buy immovable property in India according to the Indian law. The Central Government says that any foreign national living in India has to get the consent and a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Reserve Bank Of India before they can buy immovable assets here.

It is the duty of the registrar of stamps and stamp superintendent to confirm that a foreign national gets all these required permissions. So the fact that Adnan does not have any of the permissions needed to own the eight flats that he has in Mumbai is going to give him sleepless nights.

It is reported that Adnan bought the flats in Andheri between 2003 and 2005.

And this purchase is now being seen as a clear violation of the rules laid down by the Ministry of External Affaris (MEA), the finance ministry and the Foreign Management Act (FEMA).

Earlier if it was the body weight that was causing havoc in his life, now it is the burden of a strained relationship with his wife and the rising friction between two countries.

Let us wait and see if it was ignorance on Adnan's part or whether this flats ownership issue turns out to be real estate scam.

A challenge to A.R.R

With or without a Golden Globe or an Academy Award, A.R.Rahman, with his compositions and humility is undoubtedly the nation's darling. Ever thought someone would actually challenge creative wizard who is equally at ease with any style of music?

It is none other than Jagjit Singh who has asked Rahman to prove his skill in churning out Ghazals. The Ghazal guru said "What does A.R.Rahman know about Ghazals? He will never use a Ghazal in his films. All they do is pick tunes from the West". Mr.Singh also let out his disdain for the present style of music in Bollywood.

Terming the language of today's music as "tapori", he said that in the 1960s and 70s the music had its soul in Ghazals, whereas today there is absolutely no poetry in the choice of words that make up a song.

Putting forth an example Jagjit Singh asks "What kind of lyrics are "Pappu can't dance saala?". Freedom to express opinions can be understood, but it would have been a lot better if the highly respected singer had asked Rahman personally to come up with a good Ghazal track than speaking to the media.

Hot Heroine Only With BRA

Kaveri Jha- The name itself is sending hot waves in spines of many young men. She is looting the hearts with her spellbound sex appeal. Every aspect of her glamour is standing unique. Be it thigh show or a tummy expose, she stood special with great grace but no signs of vulgarity. Now she is appearing with this BRA act. Wearing only a BRA and not covering that with a blouse seems to be a signature dress-mark of Kaveri now. She is about to the hit the screen with the film 'Naa Girl Friend Baga Rich'. Arundathi makes Anuskha rich

The initial reaction to her pre-release sari-clad posters for Arundhati was mixed. Some even felt that it was a gamble, given that many makers banked on her stunning figure. However, producer Shyam Prasad Reddy felt otherwise and transformed the glam doll into a fiery heiress in the movie and she lived up to it with a stunning performance in the contrasting role. “Undeniably, it gave me a new image and both the roles gave me scope to showcase my talent,” she smiles.

With this sensational hit, undoubtedly, Anushka has become the flavour of the season overnight. Though she acknowledges the fact that she’s been receiving appreciation from many filmmakers, she refuses to rest on her laurels and prefers to move on. “Someone will be in my place next season,” she reasons.

Practical as she is, she’s cashing in on the new-found success and has demanded Rs 1 crore plus from big filmmakers, say industry sources. And why not, when she’s worth it? say sources. However, she prefers to downplay her success. “To be frank, I haven’t found any big change in my life post Arundhati. I have been getting offers like these before. About hiking my remuneration, I am hearing it only from you,” she retorts. When we insist, she merely smiles. Remind her that it is a common practice in the industry to ‘revise’ remunerations post a big success, she cuts it, “...Maybe. But I always weigh my options. Even now, I would prefer to strike a balance between good scripts and money. A fancy price alone can’t lure me.” So, is she trying to prove a point to malecentric Tollywood? “It’s only good scripts that work and I don’t believe in ‘centric’ trends,” she asserts. Quite an honest statement, as we hear that she has a ‘hot’ role in upcoming Billa. Then, will her Billa avatar shock the audience? “I don't think so,” she signs off.

Heroine's Fear After Watching Video

It has been a while since the voluptuous beauty Namitha has been making news and it is not just for her oomph and voluptuous skin show but also for the buzz that she was contemplating going in for liposuction in order to cut down on her extra flab and tone down her fat to look more shapely and slender.

However, all that seems to have been buried in the sand now as there is news that Namitha has decided not to go for it. Reports say that the pretty girl happened to see the process of liposuction on the internet and the video had scared the living daylights out of her given the cuttings and the tools involved.

Though the process is not that crude as it may look, Namitha is said to have been taken by fear after looking at that video and does not want to get under the knife just to come down on few kilos. So now, it is perhaps the regular exercise and diet control restrictions that might make things happen for her. What say Namitha
