Industry to lift ban on Asin
Albeit late south Indian actress Asin sent a letter to the Nadigar Sangam explaining why she could participate in the agitation. The Sangam had sent out letters demanding explanations from those who had not participated. Most had sent in their responses but Asin, who had been shooting in Mumbai for the Hindi ’Ghajini,’ sent in her explanation yesterday.
She mentioned that she had to participate for a function in Mumbai where she was a brand ambassador and hence could not participate in the hunger strike. The actress added that in future she would definitely participate in all programs organised by the Tamil film field and Nadigar Sangam. With this the ban seems to be totally lifted.

Mohan Babu in Pandurangadu

Meera to be disowned by AMMA!

Meera Jasmine, the mercurial actress is to be issued a show cause notice by Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). All top Malayalam stars like Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Dileep have insisted that action be taken against her “for not giving dates to Twenty:20, a film being produced by AMMA”! Meera Jasmine is one actress whom everybody in Malayalam film industry loves to hate. They all say-“Whenever Meera wants something, she will cuddle up to you and get it. But the moment you ask her for a favour, she looks through you.” Dileep who is producing Twenty:20, for AMMA in which 67 artists are involved had asked Meera for eight days of her call sheet. Dileep was shocked when she told him that she is too busy doing films in three languages in south, and can’t find time to do the film. Dileep is reported to have told her that she is not as busy as Nayanthara, the “Queen of South India”, who found time and did an item song in the film for five days! This made Meera see red and from then she refused to take any call from AMMA. Mohanlal and Mammootty who are definitely more busy than Meera, found time to act in the film. They also feel that she has an “attitude problem”, and in the past she has made critical comments about them. Now Bhavana will replace Meera in the film. But what has irked AMMA the most is that after saying she has no dates, Meera has gone and given director Kamal bulk dates for his Minnaminikootam! Recently on the sets of Inathe Chintavishyam, she made the unit wait, for four hours during the shoot of a song. Mohanlal, Sathyan Anthikad planned to shoot the song early in the morning at 6 am in a botanical garden near Theni, but the production manager reported that “Madam was sleeping in her room”. When Meera finally came to the location around 10 am, she tried to ease the tension by asking the unit members the name of the flowers at the botanical garden. She went up to Mohanlal, who was upset by her late arrival and asked him the name of a particular flower. Meera - Lal etta ithu entho poova? (what is the name of this flower?) Mohanlal - Ithu kshamayude poo aanu mole..(This is called Patience flower dear!) His cryptic reply made the entire unit burst into a laugh, on the last day of the shoot reports moviebuzz.
Genelia to do Bommarillu in Hindi
Genelia is all set to create a new record! She will be playing Haasini's character that she played in Bommarillu in Hindi too.
She has already done the same role in Tamil (Santosh Subramanyam) recently and won accolades too. You could not imagine any other actress in that role.
Producer Boney Kapoor has acquired the remake rights of Bommarillu for Hindi and is remaking it under the direction of Anees Bazmi. The film will begin shortly.
Harman Baweja who makes debut in Love 2050 (yet to be released) is playing the lead role. Genelia confirms the news. "Yes, I have signed the film and will be shooting for it shortly," she told us.
Great going, Genelia!

Story
Neelakanta (Prakash Raj) is a powerful man in his village who doesn’t believe in love marriages. He has two daughters. His elder daughter Subbalakshmi (Poonam Bajwa) elopes with a guy called Babu from a lower class on the night of her arranged marriage. Neelakanta men kidnap all the friends of Babu. Krishna (Allu Arjun) – a happy go lucky guy from Hyderabad – is one among them. Krishna likes a girl called Meena (Sheila) who happens to be the younger daughter of Neelakanta. The rest of the story is all about whether Krishna elopes with Meena or convinces Neelakanta to marry her.
Artists Performance
Allu Arjun: Allu Arjun is pretty excellent in the first half as the characterization in the first half is vibrant and needs loads of energy. He carried the entire first half on his shoulders. His steps in 'elagelaga' song are really cool. He excelled in the emotional scenes in the second half.
Others: Sheila is average in the film. A better looking girl would have added value to the film. Her character is also poorly etched. The comedy by friends gang is good, especially that of Sunil. Prakash Raj is good as the possessive father of girls. Sahaja Nati Jayasudha is pretty good as usual in the limited role given to her as the lovely mother of hero. Poonam Bajwa is adequate. Subbaraju is good.
Technical Departments:
Story - screenplay - direction: The basic story line is an interesting one. The way director penned screenplay in the first half is good. The interval block is nice. But it is extremely difficult to write screenplay for the second half and director seems to have faltered in the second half. There is ambiguity and a bit of confusion towards the climax and director settled for a tweaked version of DDLJ climax. Direction of the film is good in the first half. But he could not effectively translate the emotions on the screen in the second half. Bhaskar should have worked more on the characterizations. There is no individuality to the character of heroine as she behaves just the way hero wants her to. The characterization of Prakash Raj character is bit confusing in the second half.
Music: Music by Mani Sharma is good. Mani Sharma gave Hollywood texture to the background music (especially the instruments used). Picturization of the songs is pretty good. Allu Arjun's costumes would have been taken care of in 'parugulu teeyake pasidaana' song though the song is supposed to be whacky. The steps Allu Arjun did for 'elagelaga' are excellent.
Other departments: There is not much scope for witty dialogues in the film. But BVS Ravi managed to tickle your funny bones in the first half. Some of the dialogues are natural. Cinematography by Vijay K Chakravarthy is good. The graphics work done to the film should have been better. Artwork by Anand Sai is appropriate. Editing is adequate. Production values by Dil Raju are excellent.
Analysis: First half is good and entertaining with nice ambiance. The movie's tempo goes down as soon as the gang shifts to Hyderabad in the second half. The climax of the film appears little hesitant and ambiguous. The plus points of the film are energetic performance by Allu Arjun and well made first half. On the flip side, the emotions in the second half don't work and the movie lacks soul. We have to wait and see how this film fares at box office.

Priya Mani with Nitin
Priya Mani has been looking for offers desperately for some time. She acted in films like Pellaina Kotthalo, Toss, Bhayya, etc. She also acted in Yamadonga opposite Jr. NTR. But it was another co-star from the film, Mamata Mohandas, who has bagged more offers than Priya Mani.
Priya Mani also made a statement some time back that she would only act with young heroes. This has also resulted in her not getting many new offers.
She has now bagged a role opposite Nitin in a new film to be made by T.V. Kumar, a newcomer who will direct this film. Kelly Dorjee and Dr. Sivakumar will play special roles in the film.
