It seems that Bindu Madhavi, heroine of Avakaya Biryani, who hails from Madanapalle in Chitoor district, is turning into inspiration for many young Telugu girls, who want to become actresses. "It is a fun story with peppy music," she says about the film. "I prepare avakaya pickle in the movie and aspire to make it the best in the world. Many members of the crew are new and it is a perfect launch pad for all of us. It is being released in the first week of November."
Bindu comes from a non-filmy background and was studying for a biotechnology degree when she got a modelling offer. She had a tough time getting permission from her parents to model. But it was one of her advertisements that caught the attention of Kammula. "People used to call me a heroine from the time I participated in all the cultural programmes in my school," says Bindu. "This probably planted the desire to be an actress in me." She adds that though her parents were reluctant to allow her to model, they were thrilled when she was picked as heroine for Kammula’s movie.
However, Bindu has not yet decided whether to pursue acting as a career. "I am excited and eagerly awaiting the response for Avakaya Biryani," she says. "I haven’t yet decided whether I should pursue my studies or concentrate on my film career." But if she gets an opportunity to act with Mahesh Babu or Pavan Kalyan, Bindu says she would jump at the offer. "I am an ardent fan of both," she adds.
Talking about the experiences as an actress so far, Bindu says, "My mom has always been a fan of actors Savitri and Jayasudha. The day she becomes my fan, I will consider myself a good actress." The newcomer believes that girls from the state are reluctant to enter films since in most Telugu families, parents are conservative and don’t want to see their daughters in movies. "But I am confident that many girls will take up the profession after my movie is released," she says. "After all it’s not as bad as it’s made out to be, if you get the right role with the right people who mean business."
